Principals Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

April is here and spring break is over so it is time for the last push before testing. Your third through fifth grade children and their teachers are working very hard to make the mark for proficiency on NJ ASK. The students’ latest Star assessments have shown much growth and your children are quite proud. Feeling good about their accomplishments shows on every child when they see their results. Intrinsic pride is something that can only happen because you prioritize learning and your children feel good about making you and themselves proud. Thank you for supporting their endeavors.

NJ ASK will be administered during the week of May 5th for grade 5 and the week of May 12th for grades 3 and 4.

March, although one of our longer months, flew by so quickly. As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter a team of students participated in an Odyssey of the Mind competition. In the last newsletter I inadvertently left out one of the students/ Diana Koszelnik who also participated in the competition. I apologize to Diana and her family for this mistake.

Our Used Book Sale was quite successful. We sold almost 1,000 books! How exciting to have all those books off your shelves and into the hands of new readers. Thank you for supporting this initiative.

Our annual Reading Night was a fun night. The students and parents who attended really enjoyed what the teachers had planned. Thank you to all the staff who volunteered to show how reading is everywhere!

Thanks to the PTO and the Edison Municipal Alliance the students in grades 2-5 enjoyed two plays, “Austin the Unstoppable” and “New Kid”. These plays taught great lessons which reinforced what we teach here every day at Lindeneau about bullying and the need for exercise and healthy eating.

Be sure to mark your calendars for April 16th and our yearly, “Take Your Parent to School Day”. Fliers with information on the times for your child’s grade level were sent home. More information is to follow.

April 16th is also our “Festival of the Arts” celebration which will take place at 6:00. Come and enjoy the creative talents of the Lindeneau students in both Arts and Music.

April 16th is School Board elections. Please be sure to cast your vote when you visit our school.

Have a great month,

Rosemary Schutz
